Introducing the Characters

My cat stares at me. Its large pupils — as if adjusted to my movements — follow me around like a camera. I come to my room it runs on two hands and two clawless feet comes after me. It hovers on the carpet around my feet. I sit at my desk — beside my bed — it leaps onto the bed, slowly, slowly, it lounges on the pillow its soft paw under its head its gaze on me. Sure of my being there its eyelids little by little fall shut. Its nostrils are twitching: it smells me. Sure of my being there it sleeps. I: am you. The cat: is me. My love!
